I just found the incompatibility lists for KAV2010 and KAV2011. I can't believe how many firewalls are listed. The KAV2011 list seems especially heavy. Look 'n' Stop?! Really? Does KAV 2011 have so many more firewalls listed because of the ability to quickly switch to KIS in this version?

If a user only installs the File Anti-Virus, Proactive Defense, and System Watcher (for 2011), do these lists still apply? Is this just a marketing move to sell more KIS over KAV combined with another companies firewall product?

With a little tweaking most firewalls will work. no worry.

In general You have to install 1st KAV, and after that install the firewall, then add to KAV Exclusions the FireWall processes.

Regards.

This is a possibility indeed

Whew, that's a relief!

I'm seeing some conflicts with Jetico PFW and KAV 2011, but I just saw that CF1 was released so I'm hoping I'll have better luck with this than 232. Thanks for the replies guys!

The list on the support site lists applications which may cause conflicts with KAV, however the incompatibility is not certain. For example I used to run CFW with KAV and it worked well without any conflicts.

And don't forget that KAV acts like a proxy, when you wish to control other applications via third-party firewalls wink.gif

Thanks guys! I thought making the list meant a verified incompatibility, so that's good news. I don't use the web, mail, or IM AV so the proxy isn't an issue for me. I have had issues with Jetico PFW 2 with both KAV2010 and KAV2011. Unfortunately, the CF1 release didn't change anything for KAV2011. My logoff and logon times are so slow I have to hard reboot. I was able to isolate the issue with KAV2010 (bluescreens when launching IE7) to a rule in Jetico. I imaged my system back to avast! 5 Pro until I more thoroughly test KAV2010 in my VM to make sure it is stable with my setup. Your replies give me the hope that I'll be able to run my setup without any drastic changes and that I didn't waste money buying the license for KAV. Thanks again!

I think the best solution is to uninstall all "Desktop Personal Firewalls". dry.gif

Just another point of failure, consuming ressources and with known/unknown programming flaws/bugs where an attacker can easily get in while you feel safe.

I will have to respectfully disagree with you on this point.

This could be said about any and all software, including KAV.
