Have any products ever helped you getting pesky viruses out. Or simply funny stories. Please share them with the community. We going to run a contest for a best story

Like the time a user borrowed my CD with a VERY large collection of sample viruses and ran a couple? His reason was a classic. "I wanted to see what it would do."

An old time DOS 'virus' was amusing. Upon the next reboot after being run, it would grab the first 4 megs of your hard drive (including FAT tables), and put it in memory. Then, it'd offer you a game of poker to get the data back. As I recall, it didn't cheat either. If you won, it'd put the data back and delete itself. If you lost or rebooted... Not good. Still wish I had saved that program.

What a laugh that would have been, imagine doing that with something like a kill process or a delete process, bit like the old western cowboy days.

:) :) :)

This one just happened, actually.

We rolled out KAV6 to all of our workstations. Aside from a couple configuration issues post installation, no issues. So we slowly start migrating our servers over. Only two or three at a time. Well, our ERP server starts acting wonky. The following was the conversation between the programmer and myself.

"Hey, our ERP is acting strange. It's been up for 3 months with no problem. Your new AV must be doing something to it."
"Really? Want to bet money on that?"
"Sure"
"It'd help your argument if I actually had installed the new AV on that server, but maybe it jumped up from the server below it?"

Sounds like fun.
