Hi,

I have:

backdoor.win32.IRCBot.auf

Kaspersky detected it but says that it cant get rid of it.

I read some bad things about this one, not much removal information out there though.

Any ideas on what I could do?

Thanks in advanced.

What is the exact location of where it is not deleting it? We can help a little at this forum but it isn't a cleanup forum

As for specifics/specialists on cleaning an infected machine, some of these sites specialize in it, and damn good too.

Thanks for the websites. I'll definately check them out. I'm just not sure if this file even poses a threat to my computer yet?

The file is in my downloads folder, within a .RAR folder, Kaspersky picked it up right off the bat, soon as I downloaded the .RAR.

I then proceeded to scan it with my free version of AVG to see if it too would discover it, nothing popped up from it, but Kaspersky once again picked it up soon as I initiated the AVG scan, but it only gave me the option to delete the file.

It said something like, "You can delete this file, and create backup of it.." Sure enough, I picked "delete".

Now, I'm thinking, do I even need to worry about it, this file? I didnt unzip the .RAR folder, so in essence, I didnt execute the file? Right?

Would I be able to get rid of this file safely just by deleting it? (ie. Right-click/delete) Since I never unzipped it, and never exectuted it; it was only picked up by Kaspersky..

Thanks in advanced.

If you have not opened the file, odds you are fine. It needs to be unpacked to become a threat.
