I was thinking sjoeii, most forums don't concentrate so much on internet tools to help the users of the forum, yet it's how we meet..

There are lots of great tools out there, and some of the tools at DSLR that Ultima mentioned are great. Most are better used with Java though. O thers do not use Java either.

Maybe others can add to this topic and maybe look at it becoming a sticky at some stage.

Just a thought. What do others think? What other speed tests are used?

I use the Thinkbroadband Speedtest.

The Gadget Show on Five in the UK also has a speed test as part of a campaign they're running at the moment.

I use http://www.ozspeedtest.com/bandwidth/ though this is specific to Australian users only..

Either that, or my ISP has files that can be d/l off their main site to guage your speed.

My internet provider has some commands I can type in commando promt for testing my speed, it's the most reliable test method I was told.

It downloads a 10MB data file.
