© Lucian Bara:
The report isn't compleatly out yet, but the statistics were updated.
The result (for now, who knows maybe it will change): kaspersky and nod were the only ones to reach advanced+. That's a really big step.

Lucian mentioned it, but the source is AV-Comparatives under their overview section.

A fantastic effort by the Kaspersky team to go from a standard rating in May to Advanced+ in November.

Will be interesting to read the actual detection rates of each AV & the number of false positives recorded.

Cheers.

What was the reason(s) Kaspersky got a standard rating (as I am to lazy to look myself  )?

Perhaps too many fp's?

Regardless, a very good effort to get an advanced+ rating, although Kaspersky is still way behind Avira & Nod32 detection rates in proactive tests. I believe it is early days in the KAV/KIS heuristic engine
& that is worth noting too. The only way is up for the future.

Cheers.

Can't say anything against ESET in this one but I'm happy with the results against AVIRA. It has way too much fp's

Hi,

Have you read the posts about the test results on Wilder's forums? Stefan Kurtzhals (from Avira I believe) has quite a few issues with this test and the fp results of a few competing AV's which includes KAV.

Stefan states (in post #59 here) that it is very easy to detect 40% using heuristics without too much effort. I'd be interested to read the Kaspersky response...

Cheers.

We don't need to dicuss that. The emulator in Kaspersky is very young and new. Our score is not as good as the one for AVIRA.
Next year we will do much better than now. There is no better. there are several good av's
But i don't like all the fp's from AVIRA.

I see, I still see that nod32 still relies heavily too much on heuretics to catch mallware, But I also thought kaspersky heuretics would surpass nod32. Frankly I think this time Kaspersky Heuretics are better than nod32 so how come Nod32 does better in detecting without signatures test??
Nod32 has a weak signature database detection I think, Kaspersjy beats it hands down in signature based detection.

Perhaps my question in post #10 was a little too reactionary. I was just a little surprised at the comments made....

A very good point you've added Sjoeii- I agree wholeheartedly that there is more than one good AV.

Cheers.

Edit: What is the Warn: (0%) under my member number mean? I've only just noticed it there - have I posted something naughty?

No worries, it says 0% doesn't it?
If You are warned the percentage will increase. Too much warnings and you are banned

I have no gripe about this results but except one, (Nod32 at 71& & Kaspersky at 40% )?? :P
How could Nod32 beat Kaspersky at proactive detection= detection of unknown samples without use of signatures??? :P Kaspersky has much superior heuretics than nod32 now & should be the leader & the best in proactive detection instead of nod32!!!! ;) . Why is AV comparatives siding with nod32 by the way???? :) Well at least Kaspersky got advanced+ so I am a bit happy.
