It is good that Kaspersky has an official Chinese name.
Before McAfee decided on its Chinese name, it was generally called Mai Kafei (which means selling coffee). Their official Chinese name Maikefei failed quite a few users, who think that Mai Kafei sounds much better than Maikefei, as Maikefei means nothing in Chinese.
Kabasiji is sometimes interpreted as "truck and bus drivers". Here "Ka" stands for "Kache", meaning "truck". "Ba" stands for "Bashi", meaning "bus". "Siji" has the same pronunciation as "driver" in Chinese.
By the way, "Ka" also means "stop", "block". If "Ba" is seen as a particle here and "Siji" means "death", "Kabasiji" can be interpreted as Kaspersky causes OS to moved very unsmoothly and result in deaths of the OS. :) Hope this interpretation doesn't bother you much. It's just a play of words.

Quite an entertaining read. It's amazing how twisted words can get, just in general conversation, let alone out here in net land

:hi: :) :) :)

Thats funny, I have always pronounced it Kasper Sky, as the name Casper and then sky as the sky above us

Why do you say kasper ski when it's spelled kaspersky? and why do you pronounce the "y" as an "i" ? lol
