It seems like some XP systems (not all) have got a copy of CardSpace installed together with the rest of the July Microsoft patches. Can someone confirm this? Has Microsoft started to slowly push this thing out? This is the system talked about in SN episode #98 at http://www.grc.com/securitynow.htm

ditto, but it's not only with this months updates, i had a pc with it installed before that.
Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 @ 2,2GHz, Msi Asus P5PL2-E, 2048MB-DDR2 (2*1024), Leadtek PX6600 256MB, Teac DV-W516GA, Leadtek tv2000 xp Expert, HDD 200GB*2 (sata/sata2)

The following sort of clears up the mystery why some XP users get CardSpace and others don't, because of the Microsoft .NET Framework version 3.0...

"Windows CardSpace is a Microsoft .NET Framework version 3.0 (formerly WinFX) component that provides the consistent user experience required by the identity metasystem..."

Same here on one PC. On my laptop it tried to install but it did not work

I don't have the .NET Framework installed so no CardSpace here.
