Commemorate the Great War
It is not the epic of generals, pilots and tankman!
It is the epic of the people. The people`s cruel epic is deposited by countless skeleton.
---------The genuine hero`s epic!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the pictures, and reminding me of the day it started. Lots of people lost their life.
Not sure the next one will be any better either.

It's a pity it has to go to such extremes. I'm not for wars, but neither am I going to discrace those that were involved, and lost their life, or were lucky enough to survive, loosing friends.

Human nature..............................

It is almost just a story in history now, doubt there is a handful of survivors left that remember the experience. ^_^

22.6.1941, as far as i know was the date when Natzi germany invaded the soviet union, operation code named Barbarossa: http://en.wikipedia....tion_Barbarossa

Thanks for picking up on that Lucian. The invasion of Poland was a terrible thing.

I didnt look closely enough at all the pictures. To us the great war was WW1, and I thought it was 1914, not 1941, and the epic plight of the people, made me think of the western front, that also was in WW1 too.

No disrespect to those in either war.

So this day was the start of the loss of many life there, where the cold weather was the winner from memory. Not quite sure if Russia would have been the same place if the storms hadn't set in on the Nazi.

Seems that in such an international forum, it hurts remembering the truths of our fore fathers no matter where we desend from.

Forgive me Panda, for not looking closer to your story.
