Slipstreaming is not for the faint of heart, but once done correctly illiminates the need to constantly patch after the intial install there is like 100 approx updates waiting for you even you have SP2 built in. Also requesting a full Windows versions is not legal :D

XpSunny,

We have tried explaining this as simple as possible. You are really requesting something that we all wish for, a SP3 for the O/S. Seeing as Vista is out, will we see it, I doubt it.

Learn to accomplish what is needed for your computer to be updated. If you have any more issues, take it up with the manufacturer.

xpsunny,

Did a little digging for you

http://www.dslreport...remark,18296799

it leads to a couple of links

http://www.microsoft...a.mspx?mfr=true

and

http://www.microsoft...s.mspx?mfr=true

So I do believe you will not find a link to anything in this thread you have started, and if you did, it would have to be deleted as per the requests of the owners of this forum as posted by Whizard

http://forum.kaspers...hp?showtopic=39

Hopefully we have answered you request correctly, and have been some help. :)

MS have been talking about SP3 for xp.... but they keep pushing it back and seeing as Vista is already out I doubt it they will release a SP3 for xp. tbh, we have been waaaaay overdue a service pack but they probably will not bother now.

Although I am vaugely aware of some websites which offer "unofficial" fixes which add up to a makeshift SP3...

they will probably release it, for the following reasons:
- support for xp is until 2008-2009 if i recall (so you have to put the thousand patches someplace)
- vista is still unstable
- the same happened with sp3/sp4 for windows 2000, they were released in 2002/2003, after the release of xp.

This seems to be off Microsoft, 2008 ? It started in 2005, guess another year will go by on this one before we really, know, seeing it is believing.

Hey friends I've found "a way" to get Windows XP SP2 installed integrated with updates...
So, I thank you all for your help.
BTW, I'm very eager about the release of SP3!

Are you saying you do not trust a download you have, and would like someone to verify it is legit ?

Try using a hash tool to help you xpsunny, it is the closest thing to really knowing.

http://en.wikipedia....i/Hash_function

There are tools out there that will examine this, do a google on the subject,
it may help you keep an eye on what you download

Mmmm, why am I curious of that comment, considering what this topic is about.

If that is what you did, then glad I could help.

So how did you get the 100 or so updates after SP2, did you use the updates off 'autopatcher'.

It would be great if sometime sooon there was a SP3. It may be a list of 200 by the time we see it though. ;)
